Lava Moon...Leina’ala Kailiawa and Jonathan Siebrandt meet one rainy August night in the little ski town, Mammoth Lakes, CA elevation 8050.  Leina’ala was hanging out with her friends after playing a set at the world famous tiki bar Lakanuki.  Jonathan, got rained out from playing an outside gig down the ways.

One of her friends introduced them when he asked her if she knew how to play the ukulele that she had by her side.  She kindly replied, “nah...I just like to take my ukulele wherever i go”.  He asked her if she would like to play sweet music together.

They started out as an acoustic duo playing genres ranging from hawaiian to psychobilly rock.  Yearning to play with a full band they invited other musicians such as Ed Sisino (Upright Bass), Dave Thomas (drums), Andy Borza (percussion), and Andrew Webber (Guitar).

As of today, they are the only touring band from Mammoth Lakes that have traveled to North Carolina, Hawai’i and California.

Jonathan grew up in North Carolina singing gospel, pop, rock and mountain music.  Leina’ala who is a trained hula dancer and sax player cannot remember the first time she held an ukulele as it was always in her life.
